Even today with fingertip access to unbelievable technology we have personally found that ongoing sharing of knowledge and wisdom with our physician colleagues is challenging. There is immediate access to vast quantities of information yet is extremely difficult to collect, curate, share and grow practical knowledge. Leveraging access to our peers is vitally important as the depth of our collective wisdom is truly unfathomable!

We still use hallway conversations, journal clubs (don't get us wrong, these are great as social events), conferences (where one is super stimulated then gets back home and soon is sapped of all the new knowledge-fuelled vigour). We still use email groups and list servers which are nearly impossible to search and build understanding. Conventional social media platforms are great for keeping up with distant relatives and friends but not really appropriate for professional discourse. We hope you discover that Doc's Lounge is the ideal place for Canadian physicians to safely walk among their peers and where we can all become better scholars, experts, communicators, leaders and professionals (thank you CanMEDS / www.royalcollege.ca).
